The Cloud Forest is the most representative ecosystems of the area, its name comes from the constant presence of mist coming from the bottom of the West and clashes in the mountainous walls cannot cross the mountain range. It is characterized by a high relative humidity and located between 1,500 and 3,000 m. This coupled with other physical and ecological factors has created a rich and diverse ecosystem. When we lift our eyes to the treetops, we can appreciate the abundance of mosses, huicundos, ferns, anthuriums, vines, orchids, sometimes not even let us see the trunk.
Among the trees in our forest preserve are the Sisin, the myrtle (arrayan), fern tree (helecho arboreo), pumamaqui, Sangre de drago, among others. We can find individuals with more than 100 years of existence. The community has learned to value differently the trees, the living believe that supply oxygen to help purify the environment are also a refuge for many species of animals, from insects to mammals, flowers and fruits provide food to one without number of organisms. |
