Alaspungo, a community of enterprising people, kind and simple. Also known as "Puerta del Sol" or "Suns's Gateway", and exactly at 06:00 am, the sun king appears in the Cayambe volcano.

The Commune is made up of 500 hectares of agricultural use and 600 hectares of high Andean forest.

It is located at 3300 m and have a beautiful remnant forest inhabited by the rare hummingbird Gorgeted cheeked, kind emblem of DMQ and now in critical danger of extinction.

Their economic activities are based on dairy farming and cultivated beans, mellocos, geese, potatoes, onions, for home consumption
